Icy Strait Point is located on Chichagof Island. Hoonah is the actual town. We didn’t visit, because we’ve both been to Hoonah before.

We rode the Skypeak Gondola to the top and then headed to our “Forest Excursion.” The rain forest excursion was a tram ride, which was great for taking photos. Our guide was wonderful. Lots of interesting info on the Flora & Fauna.
They have coastal brown bears on this island but alas we didn’t see any! Fun sayings “We aren’t on the bears’ menu!” “For berries: If it grows in bunches it isn’t for lunch!” Alaska does have four seasons: last winter, this winter, next winter, & one week of summer!

Warning: The photos of the excursion don’t really do it justice. It was a lot different being there in person, as compared to what one sees in a photograph. You’ll just have to enjoy taking that adventure yourself!

We took the 9AM tram and just as we were completing our tour, a light rain started. After a quick gift shop stop, we headed back to the ship and had room service deliver our lunch. It’s a hard life but someone has to live it! 😆🤔😎
