Hilo, Hawaii Dec 21, 2025

Welcome to the Big Island of Hawaii – a paradise of black sand beaches, tropical rainforest, & volcanic mountains. Mauna Loa, the largest mountain on the planet, soars above the bleak lava fields of Hawaii Volcanoes Nat’l Park.

Having been to Hilo several times previously, we went shopping at the next best thing to Amazon…yes, it’s Walmart! Robbin bought souvenirs and other Hawaiian style items. We prefer the ship docking on the Kona side of the Big Island as we have friends who live there. Drat! …Next time!

    I can’t believe you didn’t go see the Volcano erupting !

      I have seem it before at least 3 times! I even had a flight over the volcano’s crater on the Big Island and viewed the bubbling lava approximately 1994. I’ve been to Hawaii on 6 or more cruises and about 3 other times.
