Puntarenas, Costa Rica Day 104 May 3, 2023

We went to a Scarlet Macaw Sanctuary! It was amazing. Lots of parrots and other Costa Rican animals. But wait there’s more! We also enjoyed a boat ride where we saw wildlife including monkeys and one crocodile!

Next we got on a boat at the Costa Rica Yacht Club marina. We tooled around passed mangroves, sighting animals along the way. We saw about four different capuchin monkeys, however, I don’t seem to have a good photo.

I was able to view the crocodile scrambling into the water. So I did see one! Yeah! …meanwhile I am sitting in a tiny boat without windows!!! 🐊🤔😳😟 I stopped resting my elbow on the hull. 😉😉😅

Our guide, Omar, mentioned several interesting facts. 1. Students must score high enough to advance to the next grade. School children who don’t behave, automatically repeat their grade level, even if they’re passing their subjects. 3. All students are learning English in school already but will also start learning mandarin in 1-2 years. 4. The national bird of Costa Rica is a robin! 😎😎😎🦜🦜🦜 (no robin emoji available!, wouldn’t you know it!😜😜😜) 5. The mangroves are from Africa. 6. If one doesn’t work, one doesn’t eat. Or as Omar put it “No work, no eat!” Therefore, Costa Rica has very low unemployment. 7. Bureaucracy and democracy go together. That’s one I knew already! 😉😉😉

May the fourth be with you, tomorrow. Happy Star Wars Day! ⭐️✨🌟🤩🤩🤩🎥🎥🎥🎬🎬🎬🍿🍿🍿

Some interesting facts there. Such as they ate learning English in schools but more surprising is that they will be learning Mandarin.

Then theres the robin. All those exotic birds and they pic the robin for their national bird! Robins are wonderful and always looked forward to seeing them in Spring in Indiana. Never see them in CA. Who knew they had them in Costa Rica. They must go there for winter.

    1. Being from the LA area, I haven’t seen robins in person. I just liked my namesake. The blue and gold macaw was my favorite. The blue was incredibly beautiful! 😍😍😍

    1. I like that one too. If you change the rules, then people change their behavior. The Scarlet Macaw was spectacular too. Red is my favorite color after all! 🤔😁😍

  3. Sorry I’ve been away from your blog. Lost the sign in for it and just found it. I’ll look back at all I missed. I loved Costa Rica when I was there in February. Can’t believe it’s almost the end of your journey. It looks like it was an amazing trip.

    1. No, I can’t believe it’s almost the end. The time has flown by. I’m so glad I have the blog to help me remember! 🤔🙄😉😅😅😅 Very beautiful birds but very humid weather. It will be good to be home and reconnect with family and friends. No rush on reading my posts. I’m on vacation! 😉
