Barcelona, Spain Day 84 April 13, 2023

My first time in Barcelona! So exciting! 😄😄😄 This is Barry’s favorite city.

We went to the La Sagrada de Famila, architect Antoni Gaudi’s masterpiece which was begun in 1882 and still not completed. What a beautiful basilica! From the outside it’s got oodles of details and I wasn’t really convinced of it’s “beautiful” reputation. However, the inside wasn’t busy and more importantly, it is full of color! The stained glass windows let in the sunlight and it is the sunlight which “paints” the interior in beautiful colors. Amazing!!! I loved it! 😍😍😍

Gaudi’s design theory is “no straight lines.” As evidenced by two “homes” we drove by on the tour. They are apartment buildings in reality but incredibly unusual and adorable!

I was able to speak Spanish today! I‘m not doing Duo-Lingo for nothing!!! Claro que si! 🤓😏😅 …I think I am up to 203 days today!

Barcelona was very clean with spacious sidewalks. All the street corners are at an angle. Really pretty and more open.

  1. I see why you love Barcelona and how it could be a favorite place. All the color in that church was wonderful. Color always draws me in.

I’m starting to think I’d be getting a little exhausted by the trip. May need to rest up when you get home.

    1. Yes, I have loved colors since the 2nd grade! That’s why I watercolor paint! 🎨🎨🎨😅

But those 7 ports days in a row were a killer! Barcelonawas the 7th day!!!

…It’s better now one day off (at sea) and 2 days on (in port). One needs to make hay while the sun shines! 😄😜😜
