We visited the country of Oman located adjacent to the UAE, on the Arabian Sea. We took a sailing excursion on a “traditional Arab Dhow.” Our vessel was more of a motorized dhow-looking boat but it made for a nice morning trip. We were served Arabian coffee and dates. Our dhow did have some shade which was wonderful as the UV is intense this close to the equator.

Similar to Dubai, we were told to wear conservative clothing. Women should cover their shoulders and knees. Men should wear long pants. However, after our trip our guide, Abraham, said we only needed to cover up to enter a mosque! Oh well, I’m glad I was respectful of their customs. I was running out of long sleeved hot wear clothing, having wore everything in Dubai for the last two days. I will know better what to pack on my next world cruise! Ha ha! 😉😜😅

We didn’t venture into the town of Muscat, as we were wiped out from our sunny boat ride, returning at 1:30PM. Our friends said Muscat was wall to wall people! Lots of shops and good bargains the further down off the main street one goes. The souk, market, was similar to the souk on our daytime trip into Dubai. Apparently just much more crowded! Perhaps it’s a good thing we missed it. “You get what you get and you don’t get upset!” as the music teacher used to say.
I’m hoping to add some of our friends’ photos of Muscat here. stay tuned…. 😉😁😅 Here they are! Thanks Danny & Pat.

These photos are all from yesterday, March 19th. Sunrise and formal night!
