Today we are in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Once it was capital city of Sri Lanka. Its location on the east-west spice trade route combined with its large harbor made it an important trading port. It also has a fort, open-air bazaar called the Pettah Market, and Dutch & British colonial buildings. Alas, we just went shopping and returned to the ship! So we only got a little interaction with the locals. They were friendly and most had very good English language skills. Great bargain hunting, so it’s all good! I picked up some cool souvenirs.

Our ship was performing safety drills, so our morning wait staff served in the main dining room along with our lunch and dinner waiters.

We have enjoyed a wide variety of culinary treats onboard the Island Princess. Beyond the main dining room, we have two specialty restaurants. The Bayou Cafe & Steakhouse, a steakhouse with New Orleans twist. Jambalaya, gumbo, & catfish are on the menu. There’s also Sabatini’s Italian Trattoria featuring the best tiramisu I’ve ever had. I love Italian food, so I enjoyed everything there.

I take photos of the map on the TV but I often fail to post, so I thought I would include some now. I use the “What Three Words” app to pinpoint my location. I included a photo of the ocean from that time. Just touch any photo to view it larger. Bob Vogt should like these! Enjoy!

WOW great blog, and looks like super food. A friend of our has friends cruising on your World Tour also. I’ll get the names from him, you must have met them by now. Have fun and say Aloha to Zen, Fatima for us. Herb & Jackie.
Thanks so much for your kind words. I’m so grateful for you taking time to comment. Can’t wait to see if we “know” the friends of your friends! I will pass along your Aloha too! The cruise is wonderful but going too fast! We are almost at the halfway point. Incredible!
Several comments here. First, some great photos if ocean/sky. The full moon was my favorite. Not worm moon. Although that was interesting.
You are getting good at the selfies. I find it difficult
About time we started getting some great food pics. The fried green tomatoes were different than how Im used to seeing them. The fried peach pie sounded great.
More fun to come! I’m having trouble keeping up again! Enjoy.
Yes ma’am! I took several photos of our food yesterday, and I also snapped a photo of the menu so I will remember what I took a picture of, ha ha! Stand by for another “sea day” post.
First, hi to all four of you! Love all of your photos. You all look so happy.
The sunrise and moon photos are stunning. The food looks fabulous. So glad you are trying so many different drinks and dishes. What an amazing adventure to do this.
It’s so good to hear from you! I will pass along your greetings. Yes, we are all acclimated to life at sea. We have plenty to do, or not to do as the case may be. Miss Pat & I go to the free craft activity every sea day! The food is wonderful. Eating out every meal! The staff is very professional and friendly. Exotic locations around the world too! The cruise is fantastic! We are so blessed to be on this once in a lifetime adventure/journey! Thanks for commenting and journeying “with” us!
I found your blog site in my spam file! I moved it to my inbox so I can see all your wonderful adventures on your world cruise. The photos are beautiful and you look very happy. Good to “see” you. Enjoy
