Penang Malaysia, Day 47 Tuesday, March 7, 2023

Penang was an important trade route for Europe, the Middle East, India, and China. Penang was officially settled in 1786 by the British trader and captain Sir Francis Light on behalf of the East India Trading Company.

Penang is known as the food capital of Malaysia. Thai, Chinese, Indian, and Middle East dishes can be found throughout the island. Bak kut teh, which literally translates as “meat bone tea” is actually a soup of meaty pork ribs and meatballs simmered in a broth of herbs and spices. We went to a Taste of Penang tour today. We got to taste Bak kut teh broth. In addition to the foodie experience, we went shopping for Batik clothing, chocolate, coffee, and other Penang treasures.

    Wow again. This place looks like it would be a top favorite. I’m sure I’d be eating to capacity there. So interesting!

      Yes, even though we were “full” we had to try the fried rice! …yes, I go to Weight Watchers for a reason! I like to eat! 😍😜😅
